Home Movie Day Bay Area
Mission
Home Movie Day Bay Area is a group of volunteer moving image archivists based in the Bay Area who are dedicated to the celebration and preservation of home movies. They organize screenings throughout the year with an open invitation to bring in and share with the community your home movie memories. In the past, they’ve exhibited at Pacific Film Archive; Oakland Museum of California; Berkeley Public Library; Oakland Asian Cultural Center; Temescal Arts Center; Internet Archive; Mills College; San Francisco Public Library; and Artists’ Television Access (ATA). With trained moving image archivists volunteering to inspect and project each home movie, we’ve been able to accommodate 16mm film, regular 8mm film, super 8mm film, 9.5mm film, and VHS cassette tapes. We take special care to inspect your films and videos before projection and can offer conservation advice.

Home Movie Day is a celebration of amateur films and filmmaking held annually at venues worldwide. These events provide the opportunity for individuals and families to see and share their own home movies with an audience of their community. It’s a chance to discover why these films are important and to learn how best to care for them. For more information about Home Movie Day and how to preserve your home movies, please visit the Center for Home Movies.
