2020 Registration

San Francisco History Days 2020

On behalf of the San Francisco Department of Memory (SF DoM) and the Host Committee for San Francisco History Days, we would like to invite you to participate in San Francisco’s annual community history showcase on September 25-27!

A Moment of Acknowledgement

We are in the midst of a pivotal historical moment, with San Francisco responding to a worldwide pandemic and local social justice protests. While this makes planning a large event more complex, we cannot imagine a better time to convene around a shared sense of place. Additionally, we cannot image a time in which members of our community are in greater need of amplification to a broader public eager for the joy and context that local history can provide.

With this in mind, we want to assure you that San Francisco History Days will happen this year, and that it’s being planned mindfully to ensure everyone stays safe while experiencing history in place throughout the City. Perhaps we’ll see each other in person, perhaps it will be an exclusively virtual experience, most likely some combination of the two. Regardless, the show will go on and the Host Committee is here for you!

New Format, Same Community Spirit

In light this ever-changing landscape, we’re announcing of a change in format for 2020. San Francisco History Days will begin with a virtual kick-off event on the evening of Friday, September 25th where community history groups and enthusiasts will celebrate our 10th year showcasing local history. Details to follow after you register.

This event will lead into an entire day of city-wide programming on Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th. No longer restricted to the Old U.S. Mint and ensuring proper physical distancing, participating locations will provide historical programming evenly distributed throughout San Francisco. In addition, there will be guided walking and bike tours and other activities throughout the day, all featured on an illustrated map.
